The 2013 Global Manufacturing Competitiveness Index ranked South Africa 24th on the global competitiveness rankings and it is expected that the country’s competitiveness will decline further in the next 5 years. As invested stakeholders in the ongoing development of the South African manufacturing industry, Deloitte, the Manufacturing Circle and the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) are committed to realising the advancement of South Africa’s manufacturing competitiveness. In order to do so, we are looking to our business leaders in the South African manufacturing industry to provide input on how the sector’s competitiveness could be improved.
One of the key instruments to drive industry competitiveness is the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP) – we would like to get your views on how it (IPAP) may or may not be impacting and supporting our ability to be competitive.
- Inform the next iteration of IPAP (IPAP 5 anticipated for release in April/May 2014)
- Identify the factors hindering or enhancing IPAP
- Improve the competitiveness of the South African manufacturing industry.
